From Nikkatsu, the famed Japanese studio that brought you GAPPA: THE TRIPHIBIAN MONSTER (大巨獣ガッパ, Daikyojū Gappa, 1967), and co-produced by Fever Dreams, the producers of THE MACHINE GIRL (片腕マシンガール, Kataude Mashin Gāru, 2008) and TOKYO GORE POLICE (東京残酷警察, Tōkyō Zankoku Keisatsu, 2008), comes a war of gigantic beasts! In Japanese folklore, kappa are water goblins closely associated with a certain rural village in Japan. Unfortunately, the area is also home to a militant group of scientific researchers dedicated to developing amphibious super troops based on the legendary kappa of old folktales. When their weird experiments generate deadly results things only get weirder with the appearance of an actual kappa, and the triggering of an atomic bomb, the consequences are of epic proportions. A monster arrives in the midst of the nuclear fallout and Japans defenses are helpless against it. Mankinds only savior is an irradiated water goblin on a rampage with death in its eyes. Directed by special effects wizard Tomoo Haraguchi (Gamera Trilogy), this is only Nikkatsu Studio’s second foray into the ever popular Kaiju genre. The DEATH KAPPA: TENTH ANNIVERSARY ATTACK! Blu-ray (SRP $19.99) and remastered DVD (SRP $19.99) are now available from retailers.The movie has a running time of 79 minutes and features the original Japanese audio, the English dub, and English subtitles.
