    There is a "voice" I want to tell. There is a "voice" I want to hear. Shochiku has provided some information and images from their upcoming anime film, A SILENT VOICE (?? ???, Eiga Koe no Katachi). The movie is based on the best-selling -- and award-winning -- manga by Yoshitoki Oima, originally serialized in Kodansha`s Weekly Shonen Magazine. Produced by Kyoto Animation (K-ON! franchise, TAMAKO LOVE STORY), A SILENT VOICE is directed by Naoko Yamada (K-ON!, TAMAKO LOVE STORY), written by Reiko Yoshida (THE CAT RETURNS, GIRLS UND PANZER, OSAMU TEZUKA’S BUDDHA 2 and features character designs by Futoshi Nishiya (THE MELANCHOLY OF HARUHI SUZUMIYA). The lead characters Shoya Ishida and Shoko Nishimiya are voiced by, respectively, Miyu Irino (SPIRITED AWAY, ANOHANA -THE FLOWER WE SAW THAT DAY THE MOVIE-) and Saori Hayami (EDEN OF THE EAST, BORUTO: NARUTO THE MOVIE). A SILENT VOICE will open at the Shinjuku Piccadilly and other theaters across Japan on September 17th. STORY A young boy named Shoya Ishida leads the bullying of Shoko Nishimiya, a new transfer student who is deaf. But before long, the children shift their harassment from the girl to him. Both Shoya and Shoko are ostracized from their classmates. Shoya and Shoko go their separate ways until the meet again years later as high school students. Ashamed of his past behavior, Shoya tries to break through Shoko`s sense of isolation.
