Distributor Shochiku Co., Ltd. has provided information and high-res images for the upcoming anime film, KUROKO’S BASKETBALL: LAST GAME (??? ?????? LAST GAME, Gekijooban Kuroko no Basuke Rasuto Geemu). The movie opens in Japan on March 18, 2017. Kuroko’s Basketball began as a manga by Tadatoshi Fujimaki, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 2009 to 2014. The collected volumes have sold more than 30 million copies. The TV adaptation from Production I.G (GHOST IN THE SHELL) ran for three seasons beginning in 2012. The franchise jumped to the big screen in 2016 with KUROKO’S BASKETBALL: WINTER CUP HIGHLIGHTS (?????? ???????????, Kuroko no Basuke Uintaakappu Sooshuuhen) -- aka KUROKO’S BASKETBALL: WINTER CUP OMNIBUS -- three movie compilations of the series’ third season. Now comes LAST GAME, an all-new film based on Fujimaki`s eight chapter manga sequel Kuroko’s Basketball EXTRA GAME (?????? EXTRA GAME, Kuroko no Basuke Ekisutora Geemu). STORY Several months have passed since the Seirin High School basketball team won the national Winter Cup tournament, and Tetsuya Kuroko and Taiga Kagami have finished their second year. That summer, the American street basketball team called Jabberwock tours Japan for a series of friendly matches against local teams. Trainer Kagetora Aida acts as a guide for the Americans and is both impressed by their incredible skill on the court and put off by their arrogance towards opponents. After running roughshod over the university street basketball team, Team Strky, the American team openly mocks the Japanese players and audience, saying that their quality of play is so weak they should kill themselves. Furious with their attitude, Kagetora challenges Jabberwock to a revenge match. In the hopes of defeating Jabberwock, he brings together former rivals Kuroko, Kagami and the Generation of Miracles... the dream team Vorpal Swords is born!
