Official Site: onepiece-film2016.com (Japan) Debuting in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 1997, Eiichiro Oda`s pirate adventure One Piece (?????, Wan Piisu) has achieved worldwide sales in excess of 320 million copies. In June 2015, the manga was certified by Guinness World Records as "most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author". Toei Animation premiered the ONE PIECE anime television series on October 20, 1999. The show is still in production, with more than 720 episodes to date, and has spun-off a dozen animated theatrical features. In 2009, ONE PIECE FILM: STRONG WORLD (????? ?????????, Wan Piisu Sutorongu Waarudo) topped the Japanese box office with ticket sales of ¥4.8 billion ($40,941,696 US). The success continued with the following movie, ONE PIECE FILM Z (????????? ???, Wan Piisu Firumu Zetto, 2012), which grossed ¥6.87 billion ($58,597,802 US). Now, after a four year break, ONE PIECE returns to movie screens with ONE PIECE FILM GOLD (?????????????, Wan Piisu Firumu Goorudo). Original author Eiichiro Oda has joined the movie’s production team as a producer, while longtime ONE PIECE TV series director Hiroaki Miyamoto will direct. The screenplay is by Tsutomu Kuroiwa, known for his work on LIAR GAME: THE FINAL STAGE (???????????????????, Rai?geemu za Fainarusuteeji, 2010), THE AFTER DINNER MYSTERIES (????????????, Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de, 2013) and BLACK BUTLER (???, Kuroshitsuji, 2014). Toei will release ONE PIECE FILM GOLD in Japanese cinemas on Saturday, July 23, 2016.
