The movie is based on the Toriko (???) manga series by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro, which been serialized in Shueisha`s Weekly Shonen Jump since 2008. Toriko quickly became a fan favorite, ranking alongside such long-running hits as Dragon Ball and One Piece. The series is set in a savage world ruled by the pursuit of the most delicious foods, where it`s either eat or be eaten. Toriko is one of The Four Heavenly Kings, a Gourmet Hunter (Bishokuya) -- known as "The Glutton" for his bottomless stomach -- who travels around the world searching for the tastiest foods imaginable to supply the world`s best restaurants. And in this great era of gourmet food, the tastiest foods come from the rarest and most dangerous of animals. Only Toriko can hunt down and defeat these ferocious ingredients with his bare hands. In 2011, Toei Animation debuted the TORIKO anime series and the theatrical double-feature SHONEN JUMP HEROES FILM: ONE PIECE 3D - MUGIWARA CHASE/TORIKO 3D - BEGIN! THE GOURMET ADVENTURE!! (Shonen Jump Heroes Film: ONE PIECE 3D ???????/??? 3D ??!??????????!!). Now Toriko returns to cinemas with his first feature-length film, TORIKO THE MOVIE.

Toriko receives an important assignment from the International Gourmet Organization... he is to accompany Biotope head chief Ayame and find the special hidden menu detailing the full-course meal of the legendary Acacia the Gourmet God (Bishokushin). The quest to uncover the secret of the special menu takes Toriko, Ayame, Komatsu, Zebra, Sunny and Coco through the dangerous Hungry Triangle to eventually land on the island known as "Acacia’s Kitchen". On the island they discover a bounty beyond anything he could have imagined; rare species of animals, Regal Mammoths, terrifying monsters, strange ruins and a giant refrigerator. Toriko and Ayame explore the ruins where they are confronted by Grim, the former Special Cooking Advisor for the criminal Bishokukai organization. Even crazier, three assistant head chefs and a new GT Robo (Gourmet Telexistence Robot) step in, turning the situation into an all out battle! What will be the outcome of this grand battle?! Will Toriko and his allies be able to best their foes, or will they be destroyed by the devastating power of Grim? And will they ever be able to solve the mystery of the island and uncover the truth behind Acacia’s special menu?!
