    ■ IMAX Highlights (courtesy of IMAX):

DETECTIVE CONAN continues the IMAX hot streak in Japan, while GODZILLA VS. KONG reaches $35m global IMAX box office.

Toho’s DETECTIVE CONAN: THE SCARLET BULLET, the 23rd installment in the franchise, opens to $1.2m from 38 IMAX screens in Japan, an incredible $32K per screen and the 3rd highest IMAX opening weekend since the pandemic began, behind DEMON SLAYER and SHIN EVANGELION. DETECTIVE CONAN achieves the 4th highest IMAX opening ever for a local title, only 5% behind 2019’s WEATHERING WITH YOU. The first Detective Conan movie with an IMAX release, Japanese audiences flocked to IMAX screens in droves, with the IMAX weekend box office expected to be ~7% of the nationwide total when Toho reports official numbers on Monday. After posting the 3rd highest IMAX opening day for a local title in Japan, CONAN went on to become not only the 4th highest IMAX local language opening weekend, but also the 8th highest IMAX opening ever in the market, surpassing 2016’s ROGUE ONE and 2015’s THE FORCE AWAKENS.

Warner Bros./Legendary’s GODZILLA VS. KONG climbs to $35m IMAX global box office, earning $1.4m over the weekend. IMAX China box office reaches $22m, with $700K earned from Friday, while the Domestic IMAX cume adds $523K, growing to $6.6m, second only to TENET in Domestic IMAX box office since January 2020.  Brazil, Japan, and select EMEA markets remain to open GvsK in May.
