    Comscore has announced the official North American box office estimates for the weekend of May 9, 2021, as compiled by the company’s theatrical measurement services.     North American Openers:

    United Artists Releasing opened WRATH OF MAN starring Jason Statham and takes the number on spot with $8.1M in 2,875 theaters.  The R-rated action suspense films also stars Holt McCallany, Scott Eastwood, Josh Hartnett, Laz Alonso, Deobia Oparei, Eddie Marsan and is directed by Guy Ritchie.

    Sony released Stage 6 Films’ comedy/drama HERE TODAY in 1,200 locations for a three-day opening weekend total of $900K through Sunday.Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Stage 6 Films’ acquired worldwide rights to the film starring Emmy and Tony Award winner Billy Crystal, and Emmy and Grammy award winner Tiffany Haddish.  

    RLJE Films' release of David Oyelowo's THE WATER MAN grossed an estimated $183,000 on 311 screens this weekend, for a per-screen of $588.  The film will expand to additional theaters and drive-ins next weekend.  

    Oscilloscope Labs opened SILO in 208 locations to a debut of $51,689 for a PTA of $249.This is the first ever feature about a grain entrapment incident and according to the distributor, viewer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.  

    Aloha Releasing opened WALKING WITH HERB in 507 locations to $50,900 for a PTA of $100. The PG-rated drama stars Edward James Olmos, George Lopez, Kathleen Quinlan, Christopher McDonald and is directed by Ross Kagan Marks.  

    STATE FUNERAL, A MUBI Release opened on 2 screens for an estimated weekend gross of $3,870.Sergei Loznitsa's critically acclaimed, deeply resonant documentary look at the dangers of the cult of personality debuted to sold out shows in New York and Los Angeles for its opening weekend.   

    ■ Notable North American Performers: 

    Funimation’s DEMON SLAYER -KIMETSU NO YAIBA- THE MOVIE: MUGEN TRAIN had a solid third weekend taking in $3.0M in 2,100 theaters for a PTA of $1,429 and and a cume to date in North America of $39,564,891.Set after the events of the television series, has the main characters embarking on a new mission as they investigate the mysterious disappearance of over 40 people aboard the Mugen train.  

    Warner Bros.’ MORTAL KOMBAT now in its third weekend earned $2.375 million in 2,973 locations for a PTA of $799 and a N. Am. cume to date of $37.846M.The R-rated action adventure is inspired by the hugely popular video game stars Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Hiroyuki Sanada, Chin Han and is directed by Simon McQuoid.  

    Warner Bros.’ GODZILLA VS. KONG earned $1.93M in this, its sixth weekend 2,705 loctions for a PTA of $713 and a North American cume through Sunday of $92.963M.

    Disney’s RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON now in weekend ten earned $1.865M in 2,315 theaters for a N. Am. cume through Sunday of $43,816,907. 

    Universal’s NOBODY now in its sixth weekend in North America earned $760k in 1,931 locations for a PTA of $393 and a N. Am. cume through Sunday of $24.567M.  

    ■ Notable Specialized Film Action in North America:

    Now in its second weekend, Open Road/Briarcliff’s SEPARATION took in a weekend gross of $1.075M in 1,911 locations bringing its N. Am. cume to $3,378,873. 

    Vertical Entertainment’s FOUR GOOD DAYS now in weekend 2 earned $217k in 489 locations for a PTA of $444 and a cume to date of $618,517. 

    Atlas Distribution’s THE GIRL WHO BELIEVES IN MIRACLES in 608 locations earned $118,5190 in its sixth weekend for a cume to date of $2,899,225. 

    Bleecker Street’s TOGETHER TOGETHER now in weekend 3 earned $115,619 in 450 locations for a PTA of $257 and a N. Am. cume through Sunday of $1,250,646. 

    Roadside Attractions spy thriller THE COURIER, now in its eighth weekend earned $78,950 in 279 locations for a cume to date of $6,370,083.  

    Vertical Entertainment’s THE RESORT now in weekend 2 earned $62k in 90 locations for a PTA of $689 and a cume to date of $173,571.

    A24’s MINARI now in its 13th weekend took in $60k this weekend in 362 locations for a cume to date of $2,964,816M. 

    Focus Features’ LIMBO now in its second weekend earned $50k in 213 locations for a PTA of $235 and a cume to date of $171k. 

    Lionsgate’s CHAOS WALKING now in its tenth weekend earned $32k this weekend from 413 locations lifting its estimated cume to $13.280 million to date. 

    Lionsgate’s VOYAGERS now in its fifth weekend took in an estimated $18k in 763 locations for a domestic cume to date of $3.132 million.The sci-fi thriller is written and directed by Neil Burger. Lionsgate acquired US rights to the film from AGC Studios.   

    Neon’s IN THE EARTH, now in weekend 4 is in 43 locations earning $10k for a PTA of $233 and cume to date $1,110,753.

    Neon’s GUNDA now in week 4 in 29 locations took in $7,900 for a PTA of $272 and a cume to date of $82,759.The film directed by Victor Kossakovsky chronicles the unfiltered lives of a mother pig, a flock of chickens, and a herd of cows with masterful intimacy.  

    ■ IMAX Highlights (courtesy of IMAX):

    United Artists Releasing’s WRATH OF MAN collects $625K from the IMAX Domestic network, 8% of the nationwide weekend total. Adding $375K IMAX box office from Russia and select Int’l markets, The Guy Ritchie-directed actioner starring Jason Statham grows its IMAX global cume to $1m.
