Kurihama Flower World Presents Godzilla | Flower Art Based on "36 Views of Mount Fuji"

At Yokosuka City Kurihama Flower World (designated manager: Yokosuka Flower World Seibu Partners, representative company: Seibu Landscape Co., Ltd.) in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, the Miura Peninsula's largest poppy flower field, with approximately 1 million poppies, is currently in full bloom.

On the slope adjacent to the red Shirley poppy flower field, there is an original flower art flowerbed inspired by Godzilla, illuminated by red flowers and the "Red Fuji" (赤富士, Akafuji) from Katsushika Hokusai's ukiyo-e "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji: Fine Wind, Clear Morning" (富嶽三十六景凱風快晴, Fugaku Sanjūrokkei Gaifū Kaisei).

The Design was Inspired by the Godzilla Slide at Kurihama Flower World in Yokosuka City

The Adventure Land at the park features a Godzilla Slide, approximately 10 meters long (approximately 29.5 feet), which was installed on Godzilla's birthday (November 3) in 1999 and renovated in 2024. There are also Godzilla footprint monuments at Kannonzaki and Tatarahama in Yokosuka City, and in addition to being visited by many fans touring places associated with Godzilla, it is a popular playground equipment that has been loved by local children for many years.

An original flowerbed design was created in honor of Godzilla's slide. It is reminiscent of the "Red Fuji" painted by Katsushika Hokusai in "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji: Clear Morning Glory" and depicts a figure illuminated in red flowers. The key point is that Godzilla's black body appears purple, reflecting the "Red Fuji" and the "Red poppies," while the light from his chest and back is vividly expressed.

A Huge Flower Bed Measuring 22m Wide X 14m Long, Using About 5,000 Pots of Flower Seedlings

This is a huge flower art using a total of about 5,000 pots, including colorful petunias and coleus with their gorgeous leaf colors. It is displayed on a slope adjacent to the poppy garden as a flower bed measuring about 308㎡ in area, measuring 22m wide x 14m long, and is a recommended spot for taking commemorative photos with the bright red poppies.

Visitors Can Also Try "YOKOSUKA Godzilla Curry" at the Restaurant in the Park

Located on a hill in the park, the restaurant "Los Marines" offers a panoramic view of the harbor and serves "YOKOSUKA Godzilla Curry" (YOKOSUKA ゴジラカレー, YOKOSUKA Gojira Karē) a dish developed locally in Yokosuka City. You can eat in at the restaurant! Please try this fiery spicy curry.
