Due to popular demand, the run of the "Godzilla Approaching: Hotel Escape" (ゴジラ迫るホテルからの脱出, Gojira Semaru Hoteru Kara no Dasshutsu) Real Escape Game in Atami has been extended by 2 months.

Developed by SCRAP Co., Ltd. (Location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Representative: Takao Kato) in partnership with Tokyo Dome Resort Operations Co., Ltd. (Location: Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Representative: Takayuki Iwase), the game launched on Friday, May 27, 2022 and was originally scheduled to end on Sunday, March 26, 2023.  The event will now run through Sunday, May 28, 2023, giving participants a chance to flee from Godzilla during Japan's Golden Week holiday season (Saturday, April 29 - Friday, May 5).

SCRAP debuted their first Real Escape Game -- known in Japan as  "Real D Game" (リアル脱出ゲーム, Riaru Dasshutsu Gēmu) -- in 2007. Since then, more than 9.4 million people have participated in the events, which expand on the "escape room" premise to give players a daring live action, interactive entertainment experience.  Real Escape Games have been held in venues across Japan, as well as Shanghai, Taiwan, Singapore, San Francisco, and other places around the world.

Also known as "Atami Godzilla Escape" (熱海ゴジラ脱出, Atami Gojira Dasshutsu), the Godzilla event is held at Atami Bay Resort Korakuen, a tourist retreat complex that includes the Atami Korakuen Hotel, which opened 1965. Atami was the site of the final battle in the 1962 film KING KONG VS. GODZILLA (キングコング対ゴジラ, Kingu Kongu Tai Gojira), and has been the setting for various monster movies and special effects films. Events related to monsters are held there on an ongoing basis, and the area is now referred to as the "sacred land of monster movies."

With the cooperation of Toho Co., SCRAP has used Atami as the stage for a special experience that sets itself apart from the standard escape games. Visitors can enjoy an original story that ties back directly to the events of KING KONG VS. GODZILLA, with new film footage depicting Godzilla's attack on present-day Atami. In addition, the Godzilla featured in the Real Escape Game is a new design -- primarily based on the Heisei Godzilla but with some Showa attributes plus more modern-style craggy dorsal fins -- that is exclusive to this event.

There are two versions of "Godzilla Approaching: Hotel Escape" to choose from. The longer "Overnight Course" allows players to fully enjoy the resort, which is located in a perfect location overlooking the night view of Atami and the Sagami Sea. The "Day Course" is a more lighthearted game that allowsplayers to easily balance Atami sightseeing and puzzle-solving. Both courses have proven popular with participants. The average event time is 4.5 to 6 hours, more than double the play of other Real Escape Games.

    Story

Ladies and gentlemen, please take a look.
This blue skies, the wide ocean, the hot springs of Atami, and...

    ... is that "Godzilla"???!!!

    1962.

After fighting King Kong, the giant monster Godzilla sank into the sea off Atami. At the Atami Bay Resort Korakuen, which opened three years later, a researcher secretly appointed by the government conducted an ecological survey of Godzilla.

That investigation was terminated 30 years ago, but you, a researcher for Pacific Pharmaceuticals, have received a report that, for the first time in the past 60 years, sea water temperatures in the Atami area have risen significantly in just a matter of days. You head to the Atami Korakuen Hotel, where the front desk personell give you the manager's business card and a key to your room... which contains a mysterious attaché case.

Scanning the QR code on the business card unlocks a video of the hotel manager, explaining that the attaché case contains old documents related to Godzilla that must be deciphered.

    So, the game begins!

When you solve all the mysteries of the documents, you will receive a message from the doctor who created them. It turns out that there are even more documents hidden in the hotel.

With the cooperation and instruction of the hotel staff, you will be able to explore places that ordinary guests are not allowed to enter. The scope of exploration includes not only your own room and the hotel building, but also the outside areas.

As you investigate the traces of Godzilla, you will strongly feel the disturbing signs of Godzilla's return. And that premonition will eventually develop into an epic battle that engulfs the entire city of Atami.

    An anomaly occurs at sea.
A forgotten laboratory somewhere in the hotel.
And mysterious documents left behind by a now deceased doctor.
    Is Godzilla's attack now inevitable?
Will you be able to protect Atami, or even Japan, from Godzilla?
