Today, May 31st, the first fan meeting event for the TV anime CHIBI GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN (ちびゴジラの逆襲, Chibi Gojira no Gyakushū) was held at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi in Tokyo, with voice actor Jun Fukuyama (Chibi Godzilla) serving as MC. At Fukuyama's invitation, actors Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Chibi Mechagodzilla), Rie Takahashi (Chibi Mothra), and Hiro Shimono (Chibi Rodan), all holding cute stuffed toys of the characters they play, as well as director Taketo Shinkai and Chibi Godzilla (in a costume) took to the stage.
The "Monster Island Residents Gathering 2025" (怪獣島住民集会2025, Kaijū-Jima Jūmin Shūkai 2025) was a home-style affair where the "residents" (fans) of Monster Island and "resident representatives" (the show's cast and staff) gathered to talk about events that happened on Monster Island and plans for the island's future development. Events included a "Monster Island Activity Report Meeting" (怪獣島活動報告会, Kaijū-Jima Katsudō Hōkokukai) to look back on Chibi Godzilla's activities so far, a "Residents' Grand Discussion Meeting" (住民大討論会, Jūmin Dai Uronkai) where the resident representatives answered questions from fans, and a "Monster Island Development Strategy Presentation" (怪獣島発展戦略発表会, Kaijū-Jima Hatten Senryaku Happyōkai) to announce future developments for the further development of Monster Island.
When asked about his impressions when he read the script for the first time, Fukuyama recalled, "I thought of various voice patterns before recording, wondering what it would be like between cute and funny. The script was so broad that I was fired up." Takahashi agreed, saying, "Even adults would laugh out loud at the plot, and the character explanations made the script jump fort me." Matsuoka said mysteriously, "I just had to do it. That was all."
Shimono revealed how he prepared for the role of Chibi Rodan, saying, "In the character explanation, it said that Rodan is a narcissist, so I imagined a rich character and practiced how to speak that way." Director Shinkai praised the voice actors' passionate performances, saying, "Everyone performed beyond my imagination. It was truly amazing."
When asked about the similarities between her and the character, Chibi Mothra, Takahashi said, "We both have geeky hobbies. We also tend to speak fast when talking about things we like. I thought she was a character suited to me."
Shimono replied with a wry smile, "Maybe it's the fact that Chibi Rodan gets teased?"
Meanwhile, Matsuoka said, "When we're recording, people say, 'The temperature on set rises just because you're here.' That's not about willpower or mentality, it's the physical temperature rising. Recently, I've been using a blower as a fan to cool down," to which Fukuyama laughed, "You're overheating, aren't you!?"

Fukuyama said about Chibi Godzilla; "We're similar in that we try to move in a fun direction and periodically have destructive urges. When I say destructive urges, I don't mean physical ones, but the kind of destructive urges that make you want to break the flow of a conversation when you see where it's going."
In the "Favorite Character Survey" (推しキャラアンケート, Oshi Kyaraankēto) announced during the "Monster Island Activity Report Meeting," Chibi Rodan came in first place! Hiro Shimono, who plays Chibi Rodan, was shocked and said, "That's surprising! I thought if I was in the top 10, it would be pretty good," but he also said enthusiastically, "I'll continue to take the teasing [from the other monsters] with all my might, and even if it makes my body all torn up, I'll keep on doing the 'Ra, Boom'!" Regarding his first impression of Chibi Rodan, he said, "He seems mentally strong and narcissistic, and in terms of first impressions, he's like [the posh and self-centered character] Hanawa-kun from [the shojo manga and anime series] Chibi Maruko Chan. But the way he's treated is so different!", making the fans in the audience laugh.
Talented voice actors who appeared as guests in previous episodes, such as Koichi Yamadera and Ayumu Murase (Chibi Hedorah's clean form), were also a topic of conversation. When asked by Fukuyama, "Who would you like to see appear next? It's free to say it here!", Takahashi modestly sent out a love call, saying, "Legend Nozawa... it's not decided yet, so I'll stop saying names here!" (Masaka Nozawa is an acclaimed voice actor, best known as the voice of Son Goku in DRAGON BALL). Shimono excitedly agreed, saying, "When you say legend Nozawa... there's only one! She seems to have a golden aura." Matsuoka added that, "She's definitely shining gold."

During the event, it was also announced that the third season CHIBI GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN will begin airing on Wednesday, July 2nd. Matsuoka declared, "I'll do my best! Actually, I'm currently working hard on the dubbing!" It was also revealed that voice actor Katsuyuki Konishi of GURREN LAGANN and ONE PUNCH MAN fame will be voicing the new character, Chibi JJ. Shimono, who has the same birthday and blood type as Konishi, said, "With Konishi joining the team, I think the lively feeling will be even more powerful. By the way, the dubbing recording is underway, and Chibi JJ is... a dangerous police officer!", raising fans' expectations.
In addition, it was decided that the new theme song will be an original piece by the J-pop group Wednesday Campanella. Takahashi revealed he was a bog fan of the song, saying, "Amazing! Has there ever been a theme song [for the show] before!?" He added, "I'm glad its by Wednesday! I'm so happy! The song gets me pumped! I can't help but move my body naturally." Director Shinkai was also pleased, saying, “The music is danceable and psychedelic, just as I imagined, and fits the worldview of this show."
Running only 70 minutes, the "Monster Island Residents Gathering 2025" wrapped up quickly.
Matsuoka commented, "Working on CHIBI GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN helps me relieve stress. It's hard work, but it's refreshing. I want to continue doing it for a long time to come."
Takahashi was full of enthusiasm, saying, "[Each episode of] The anime runs about three minutes, but the dubbing was done efficiently and we were able to work comfortably. We also have a new season coming up, so we want to liven up everyone's mornings even more from now on!"
Shimono commented, "Right now, I feel like CHIBI GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN is riding a wave across the world! I hope we can continue to do simultaneous screenings of the episodes [in Japan and North America], so please support us!"
Director Shinkai commented, "I'm very happy to be able to hold an event like this and have my directorial work broadcast on TV every week. I'll do my best to hold another event like this soon."
Finally, Fukuyama, who also served as MC, concluded the event by saying, "Even before we deliver it to you all, we are all smiling and working on each part of the work. The DVD will be released [in Japan] on October 29th, and I would be happy if we could start a fun day together with you all, including the latest season from July 2nd."

Part 2!

A new little monster will appear in the new season! Katsuyuki Konishi has been chosen to voice Chibi JJ, a self-proclaimed police officer who protects Monster Island.
Chibi JJ is a little monster based on Jet Jaguar, a robot that was introduced in GODZILLA VS. MEGALON (ゴジラ対メガロ, Gojira Tai Megaro, 1973) and continues to appear in the Godzilla series. JJ has such a strong sense of justice that false arrests are commonplace. He's inflexible, but he's good at housework and can cook delicious meals. His specialty dish is katsudon.
Comment from Katsuyuki Konishi: "I'm Katsuyuki Konishi and I'll be joining the cast from now on. I've always loved Godzilla, and I've always liked Anguirus and Jet Jaguar. Really (lol), so I was super happy to be asked to play Chibi JJ this time! I'm a righteous police officer, so I'd like to crack down on the world of Chibi Godzilla with all my might! Talking fast is hard (lol).
Part 3!
The theme song for the latest TV anime series will be a new song written by the music group Wednesday Campanella, called "Monster Island" (Kaijū-Jima)! The theme song is sprinkled with lyrics that are related to the many charming characters that appear in the TV anime. It also incorporates fun, danceable elements that are characteristic of Wednesday Campanella. It will be released on various music distribution services on Wednesday, July 2nd, the same day the TV anime's third season is first broadcast!
A snippet of "Monster Island" is also used in the newly released trailer! Please look forward to further updates!
