    Toho Announces Efforts to Achieve Zero CO2 Emissions at Studio

    Toho Co., Ltd. and JERA Co., Inc. are pleased to announce that they have signed a basic agreement as part of their efforts to achieve zero CO2 emissions from electricity consumption at Toho Studios, one of the largest film studios in Japan.

    Toho, internationally known for its business in the entertainment field centered on movies, and JERA, an energy company pioneering efforts to eliminate CO2 emissions in the energy field, have agreed to gradually introduce "24/7 Carbon Free Electricity"「24/7(twenty-four seven)カーボンフリー電力, 24/7 (twenty-four-seven) Kābon Furī Denryoku」at Toho Studios from FY2024 as part of efforts to achieve zero CO2 emissions from power consumption at Toho Studios.  Through this initiative, the two companies will continue to work toward the realization of a sustainable global environment.

    "24/7 Carbon Free Electricity" is the name given to electricity that does not emit CO2 for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or 365 days a year. The 24/7 carbon-free power to be introduced to Toho Studios will be realized by combining the clean energy supply infrastructure of renewable energy from solar power and other sources and zero-emission thermal power generation exclusively using hydrogen, with the latest digital technology that enables real-time visualization and future simulation of electricity demand and CO2 emissions.
