The mobile game-turned-anime follows anthropomorphized horse girls, each based on famous Japanese racehorses throughout history, as they study and train at the Tracen Academy to become the best racers and pop idols in Japan.

Both the film’s screenwriter and scenario director previously worked together on the 2023 four-episode OVA series, UMAMUSUME PRETTY DERBY: ROAD TO THE TOP (ウマ娘プリティーダービー Road to the Top).

UMAMUSUME: PRETTY DERBY – BEGINNING OF A NEW ERA will be released nationwide in Japan by Toho on May 24, 2024.

SYNOPSIS

Jungle Pocket, a.k.a. Pokke, is a horse girl who partakes in freestyle races, aiming to be the strongest. Pokke is shocked by Fujikiseki's performance in a Twinkle Series race that she watched on a whim, and decides to enter the Twinkle Series herself.

Pokke joins "Tracen Academy," a school where horse girls gather, where she takes on the "Classic Triple Crown Race," which she is only allowed to attempt once in her life. It is here where she trains under the guidance of Tanabe, the person who raised Fujikiseki.

Waiting for her are rivals from her generation who are even more talented than Pokke. Dedicated to her work, Dantsu Flame continues to work hard and earnestly. Manhattan Cafe, meanwhile, is running after a "friend" that only she can see. Lastly, Agnes Tachyon is a mad scientist who seeks beyond the full potential of horse girls…

These horse girls run with their pride, determination, and souls on the line.

The hot and fierce battle opens the door to a new era.

“I don't care who the opponent is! I'll become the strongest horse girl!”
