Lead Actor Ryunosuke Kamiki to Throw Out the First Pitch

Toho and the Yomiuri Giants (読売ジャイアンツ, Yomiuri Jaiantsu) have revealed further details for their GODZILLA MINUS ONE (ゴジラ-1.0/ゴジラマイナスワン, Gojira Mainasu Wan) collaboration event for the Giants' home game against the Tokyo Yakult Swallows at the Tokyo Dome on October 1st.

 

To promote the event, a new key visual has been released featuring the Yomiuri Giants' players and Godzilla. The design includes the phrase "89 is my life.～野球とは、人生そのものだ。～" (89 is my life. ~Baseball is life itself.~), the official catchphrase for the team's 89th season.

Godzilla Seat tickets, which come with an original collaboration T-shirt as a bonus, went on sale at noon (JST) on Saturday, September 16.

On game day, Ryunosuke Kamiki, the star of GODZILLA MINUS ONE, will throw out the first pitch. In addition, a variety of events will be held, including a giveaway of original clear files for the first 10,000 visitors, the screening of a collaboration video, a meet and greet with Godzilla and Chibi-Godzilla, a statue of "Godzilla-1.0" will go on display, and the latest trailer will be shown on the Tokyo Dome's main screen.

*The "Original Godzilla Goods" ticket is a merchandise exchange voucher that can be purchased by those who do not have a Godzilla Seat. However, this ticket alone does not allow admission to the venue. A game day ticket is required to enter the Tokyo Dome and pick up the Godzilla T-shirt.

Ryunosuke Kamiki stars as Koichi Shikishima in GODZILLA MINUS ONE. Born May 9, 1993 in Saitama Prefecture, Kamiki had the lead role in Takashi Mikke's THE GREAT YOKAI WAR (妖怪大戦争,  Yōkai Daisensō, 2005) and his credits include the Rurouni Kenshin film series (2014-2021), MARCH COMES IN LIKE A LION (3月のライオン 前編, 3 Tsuki no Raion Zenpen, 2017) and its sequel, FORTUNA`S EYE (フォルトゥナの瞳, Fortuna no Hitomi, 2019), MURDER AT SHIJINSO (屍人荘の殺人, Shijinso no Satsujin, 2019), GHOST BOOK (GHOSTBOOK おばけずかん, GHOSTBOOK Obakezu Kan, 2022) and  WE'RE BROKE, MY LORD! (大名倒産, Daimyō Tōsan, 2023).

He has also voice acted for several acclaimed anime films, including Hayao Miyazaki's Oscar-winning SPIRITED AWAY (千と千尋の神隠し, Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakush, 2001i), Mamoru Hosoda's SUMMER WARS (サマーウォーズ , Samā Wōzu, 2009) and Makoto Shinkai's SUZUME (すずめの戸締まり, Suzume no Tojimari, 2022).

Godzilla-themed collaboration videos will be shown at the venue, including introductions of the Giants' star players.

 

• Installation of "Godzilla-1.0" statue

A 2.6-meter (8.5 foot) tall statue of "Godzilla-1.0" will be on special display at the bottom of the V-shaped staircase at Gate 22 of the Tokyo Dome.

 

• "Godzilla" and "Chibi Godzilla" Meet and Greet

Godzilla and Chibi Godzilla will appear 'in person' on the concourse and grounds of the Tokyo Dome.

 

• Airing of Trailer

The latest GODZILLA MINUS ONE trailer will be shown on the Tokyo Dome's gigantic main screen after the game.

 

•  Visitor Gift

The first 10,000 attendeess will receive an original clear file with the new key visual for the Yomiuri Giants/Godzilla collaboration.
