 3Y Film, makers of THE GREAT BUDDHA ARRIVAL ((大仏廻国 Daibutsu Kaikoku, 2018) and NEZURA 1964 (ネズラ1964, 2020), have announced some exciting cast additons to their upcoming film, GHOST-CAT RHAPSODY (怪猫狂騒曲, Kaibyō Kyōsō Kyoku).

Today it was revealed that Daisuke Ban has been signed for the movie. Ban is best known as the star of the popular Toei superhero series KIKAIDA (人造人間キカイダー, Jinzō Ningen Kikaidā, 1972-73) and INAZUMAN (イナズマン, 1973-74) and has appeared in numerous tokusatsu shows and movies. He also played Sadako's father in the the internationally acclaimed J-Horror hit THE RING (リング, Ringu, 1998) and its sequels THE RING 2 (リング2, Ringu 2, 1999) and RING 0: BIRTHDAY (リング0 バースデイ, Ringu Zero: Bāsude, 2000i).

Also joining the cast is Takeshi Tsuruno, star of Tsuburaya Productions' ULTRAMAN DYNA (ウルトラマンダイナ Urutoraman Daina, 1997-98). Tsuruno has returned as Shin Asuka/Ultraman Dyna in several Ultraman shows and films. A talented singer, he has released multiple albums and performed the theme song for the Toei Super Sentai series ZENKAIGER (機界戦隊ゼンカイジャー Kikai Sentai Zenkaijā, 2021).

THe man-in-suit performer for GHOST-CAT RHAPSODY will be Akira Ohashi. Ohashi is known for portraying Gamera in GAMERA 2: ATTACK OF LEGION (ガメラ2 レギオン襲来 Gamera 2 Rregion Shūrai, 1996), Trauma Gamera and Iris in GAMERA 3: THE REVENGE OF IRIS (ガメラ3 邪神〈イリス〉覚醒), and also King Ghidorah in Toho’s GODZILLA, MOTHRA, KING GHIDORAH: GIANT MONSTERS ALL OUT ATTACK (ゴジラ・モスラ・キングギドラ 大怪獣総攻撃, Gojira, Mosura, Kingu Gidora: Daikaijū Sōkōgeki, 2001). He recently played the monster Mammoth Nezura in 3Y Film's NEZURA 1964.

Directed by Hiroto Yokokawa (THE GREAT BUDDHA ARRIVAL, NEZURA 1964), GHOST-CAT RHAPSODY is a fresh take on the classic legend of the ghost cat that has inspired dozens of .Japanese horror movies. The film is scheduled for release in 2022.
