Toho has provided press notes and a gallery of high-res images from the 22nd feature-length Pokémon anime, MEWTWO STRIKES BACK -- EVOLUTION (???????? EVOLUTION, Myuuts? no Gyakush? Evolution), the 3DCG remake of the first film in the Pokémon series. In 1998, POKÉMON: THE FIRST MOVIE - MEWTWO STRIKES BACK (?????????????????????, Gekij?-ban Pokettom Mnsut? Myuuts? no Gyakush?) was a record-breaking hit, becoming the top animated film at the Japanese box office for that year. It was soon released all over the world, expanding the international Pokémon craze that continues to this day. That legendary movie has now been recreated with full 3D computer animation. MEWTWO STRIKES BACK -- EVOLUTION opens in theaters across Japan on July 12th. STORY The Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo (Masachika Ichimura) was thrust into the world by the selfishness of a human who discovered a fossil from the Mirage Pokémon, Mew (Koichi Yamadera). Mewtwo was experimented on repeatedly as the ultimate weapon, and it has grown to loathe its human creator.
