A Monty Python-esque collection of shorts, animation, sketch comedy, instructional videos and more, ZOMBIE TV showcases the natural evolution of zombies in the 21st century, no longer a frightening menace, but rather an annoying neighbor you realize you simply have to put up with. ZOMBIE TV answers such natural questions as: in a world full of the undead, wouldn’t some of the surviving humans want to join the majority and become zombies themselves? Would becoming a zombie solve the emotional and relationship problems we all have as living, breathing human beings? Do zombies have their own idols? Would zombies worship a zombie god? Who would win in a fight: a cannibal, or a zombie? How did zombies evolve from walkers into runners? And the most burning question of all: how do zombies have sex? Nishimura has created ZOMBIE TV with the assistance of a new pair of filmmakers he’s excited to introduce to the world: award-winning splatter short film director Naoya Tashiro, and artist / animator Maelie Makuno. Bringing very different tastes and styles to their episodes, the trio have created a fun, fast-moving film that captures the feeling of flipping through late-night TV in a world gone mad. Structured to entertain without tiring out its audience, ZOMBIE TV provides food for thought -- if that food were human guts and brains. About Director / Chief of Production and Design YOSHIHIRO NISHIMURA

Born in Tokyo in 1967, Yoshihiro Nishimura taught himself to do special effects, and went on to found one of the busiest special effects makeup companies in Japan, Nishi-Eizo, which has practically created a genre unto itself, with work on films ranging from SUICIDE CLUB to L: CHANGE THE WORLD to COLD FISH. In 2008, he created the science fiction horror movie TOKYO GORE POLICE. Basing it on his earlier independent short film ANATOMIA EXTINCTION, Nishimura co-wrote the screenplay, directed the movie, did the special make-up effects and modeling, and had a small cameo role as well. After TOKYO GORE POLICE, Nishimura co-directed the horror love story VAMPIRE GIRL VS. FRANKENSTEIN GIRL, and made MUTANT GIRLS SQUAD with Noboru Iguchi and Tak Sakaguchi. Later that year, Nishimura made his first solo directorial feature since TGP, the massive zombie epic HELLDRIVER (like MUTANT GIRLS, part of Nikkatsu`s specialty label Sushi Typhoon), for which he served as screenwriter, editor, character designer, special effects supervisor and director. In 2011 he worked on several anthology projects, including contributions to Magnet Releasing`s THE ABCs OF DEATH and the independent horror omnibus THE PROFANE EXHIBIT, all the time continuing to expand the possibilities of genre filmmaking and special effects design and creation. ZOMBIE TV is his latest production, for which he served as overall coordinator, as well as director for many of the segments. The entire project was begun by Nishimura, and his taste in black comedy mixed with outrageous splatter effects shines through the whole work. Nishimura also recruited new filmmakers Naoya Tashiro and Maelie Makuno to serve as co-directors. Born in 1987, Naoya Tashiro set the course for his future career as a filmmaker when his self-produced splatter film HIGH SCHOOL GIRL OF THE DEAD served as his graduation thesis from art school. It later went on to great acclaim at various film festivals in Japan, and was eventually released directly to DVD. For its home video release, Tashiro directed the short films BLOODY BATHHOUSE and CANNIBAL MAID AND KILLER NURSE as special features, and both also went on to be screened at several film festivals. In November 2012, Tashiro’s first professionally-produced work, HELL OF THE COLLEGE GIRLS, received a theatrical release in Japan, as well as a simultaneous DVD release. His latest film, NAKED SISTER, premiered at the 2013 Yubari Film Festival, and will receive a later theatrical release in Japan. Born in Kobe in 1985, Maelie Makuno began drawing her own comics at age 13, and later joined a self-publishing group who created and distributed their own manga works. After studying Japanese painting in college, Makuno received her first professional solo exhibition in 2011 at Nakano`s Hidari Zingaro entitled "0000, OH! Hot!", a living show which displayed models on whose bodies comics or paintings of gay love stories had been drawn. Through works such as "Boys Love," "Otoko no jou," "Anthropomorphosis," and others, Makuno began to concentrate her work on portraying the transsexual themes present within Japanese pop culture, many of which received exhibition at foreign art fairs. Until 2012, Makuno studied with legendary modern artist Takashi Murakami at his Kaikaikiki company, and went independent in 2013, concentrating on her own original works. She is presently working in painting, film and video production, as well as art direction, manga, illustration, and a wide variety of creative endeavors. ZOMBIE TV is her first work as a filmmaker.
