    Hot on the heels of their recently announced GODZILLA 12IN SERIES 2016-17 lineup, Diamond Comic Distributors has revealed two more figures for 2017. The new additions are sculpted by Yuji Sakai, the artist renowned for his work on the Toho films as well as hugely popular collectibles including model kits, statues, toys, books and the S.H. GODZILLA VS BIOLLANTE (??? VS ?????, Gojira Tai Biorante) is the second film in the second era of Godzilla films, released in 1989. In the film, Godzilla battles an enormous plant kaiju named Biollante, who was created by a scientist using cells from Godzilla himself! The story concept was found in a contest where the producers solicited ideas for the film from Japanese fans. Over 5,000 story ideas were submitted, and the winning entry that was selected was from Shinichiro Kobayashi, a dentist and occasional science fiction writer. Director Kazuki Omori then adapted it into the film`s script. In 2014, the movie was declared the favorite of fans in Japan. This 12" scale figure depicts Godzilla as he appeared in the film -- his first in the new era to feature an opponent. Originally released in Japan as the Toho 30cm Series Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection: Godzilla (1989) Alert Level Four: Osaka Landing (??30cm???? ????????????? ????1989????????? ?????) in September 2014.

GODZILLA VS. KING GHIDORAH (???vs??????, Gojira Tai Kingu Gidora, 1991) was released in 1991, and was the first film in Toho`s second era of films to feature a kaiju from the previous era -- King Ghidorah. Directed by Kazuki Omori and featuring special effects by Koichi Kawakita, the film was the eighteenth installment of the Godzilla series and was one of the most popular entries in the series. Godzilla`s evolution continues in this film, as the King of the Monsters continues to get bigger, bulkier, and more powerful. This 12" scale figure captures the massive size and intricate detailing of the Godzilla suit from the film.
