Distributor Shochiku Co., Ltd. delayed the theatrical release due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The movie is adapted from the 2016 best-selling novel by Takeshi Shiota, and the main character in the story was based on actor Yo Oizumi (I AM A HERO, TOKYO GHOUL), who ended up playing the role in the film. Oizumi plays Teruya Hayami, the chief editor for a magazine that is on the brink of cancellation.
