SciFi JAPAN TV #05: Independent Kaiju Movie Maker 第5話「大怪獣自主映画の監督」

    A SCIFI JAPAN EXCLUSIVE

In the latest episode of SciFi JAPAN TV, we speak to Kiyotaka Taguchi, director of the independent kaiju film G (2008) and NHK’s TV movie GEHARHA: THE DARK AND LONG HAIR MONSTER (Chouhatsu Daikaiju Gehara, 2009).

Shortly after graduation, Taguchi served as an assistant director to special effects director Makoto Kamiya on GODZILLA, MOTHRA & KING GHIDORAH: GIANT MONSTERS ALL-OUT ATTACK (aka GMK, Gojira Mosura Kingugidora Daikaiju Soukougeki, 2001), and later went to work on the art staff for the Millennium Godzilla series under art director Toshio Miike, before going on to release his independent film G.

In this exclusive interview, Taguchi discusses the creation of his first film, some of his recent and upcoming projects, and the future of tokusatsu cinema in Japan.

    About Gaijin Channel

Filmmaker JR Lipartito and SciFi Japan writer Jim M. Ballard make up creative duo behind Gajin Channel. Both have worked on television and corporate/client works but found that to be quite uninspiring nor even much challenge. So they left that world and joined a young multimedia company called ACTV, with high hopes of making a living doing nothing but creating cool web videos and mobile apps!
