A SCIFI JAPAN EXCLUSIVE
Toei Co., Ltd. has provided SciFi Japan with press notes and high-res images for the Japanese release of POWER RANGERS (????????, Pawaarenjaa), the American feature film from Lionsgate and Saban Brands. POWER RANGERS will be released in the United States by Lionsgate on March 24, 2017. Toei will release the film in Japan on July 15, 2017.
? The Japanese/US hybrid super project begins! In recent years, Hollywood has built an enthusiastic fan base for superhero films such as AVENGERS, THE DARK KNIGHT and SPIDER-MAN. The POWER RANGERS television show -- an English language localization of the "Super Sentai" Japanese special effects franchise from Toei -- began in 1993 and has run for over 800 episodes... second only to THE SIMPSONS among current scripted TV programming. It is broadcast in more than 160 countries and is loved all over the world. POWER RANGERS is a social phenomenon called "the most successful Japanese production in America". Now POWER RANGERS will be rebooted on an overwhelming scale as a major Hollywood motion picture. The Japanese heroes that everyone knows will reawaken as new heroes that no one has ever seen before! ? Get up; the world is waiting. In the small town of Angel Grove, there were five ordinary high school students living normal, everyday lives. But, fate gives them a "new power" to face the threats that will soon menace the world.
