    Tsuburaya Announces Ultraseven 55th Anniversary 4K Special Screenings In Japanese Cinemas

    Tsuburaya Productions Co., Ltd. has announced that five select episodes of the original ULTRASEVEN (ウルトラセブン, Urutorasebun, 1967-68) televsion series will be screened in 4K at sixteen theaters across Japan from Saturday, October 1st through Thursday, October 13th, 2022. The screenings will kick-off the year-long Ultraseven 55th Anniversary Project (ウルトラセブン55周年, Urutorasebun 55-Shūnen) celebration and mark the first time that ULTRASEVEN will be shown in 4K cinemas.

    Episode 7: SPACE PRISONER 303 (宇宙囚人303, Uchū Shūjin 303)

    A hunting trip is interrupted when the hunters find a miniature spaceship, only for its violent pilot to kill them in quick succession. At about the same time, in space, the TDF’s Space Station V3 receives transmissions from some alien source. Contacting the Ultra Guard, who are also receiving the messages, V3’s captain and Captain Kiriyama try to understand the source, which is revealed to be a warning concerning a violent interstellar criminal known as 303: the very alien now on Earth.

    Episode 26: SUPER WEAPON R1 (超兵器R1号, Chō Heiki R 1-gō)

    The Ultra Guard extols the virtue of the weapon, the R1, which is capable of producing the force of 8000 hydrogen bombs, but Dan is chilled at the destructive power, believing it to be an impediment to permanent peace in the universe. Its creator chooses the planet Gyeron, far away and seemingly uninhabited, for a test. But a being from the planet, Gyeron, mutated to a monster and races toward Earth, proving that incorrect.

    Episode 37: THE STOLEN ULTRA EYE (盗まれたウルトラ・アイ,  Nusuma Reta Urutora Ai)

    A young woman connected to a strange UFO, temporarily blinds Dan and steals his Ultra Eye while he is out on patrol. She then sends a signal out into space, asking for pickup from the Magellan Nebula. Back at headquarters, they learn that the Magellans have already launched an interplanetary missile at the Earth, and are abandoning their agent. Dan’s only recourse is to find the Ultra Eye before it’s too late as the Ultra Hawks find their weaponry ineffective against the missile.

    Episode 48 : THE BIGGEST INVASION IN HISTORY (Part 1) (史上最大の侵略 前編, Shijō Saidai no Shinryaku  Zenpen)

    Dan is sick. After passing out, he is confronted by Ultraseven’s superior who reveals he can no longer absorb solar energy. The superior demands that he return to the Land of Light to recover, but Dan refuses, not wanting to leave the Earth he loves undefended on the cusp of a full-scale invasion. His superior relents, but just before Dan awakes, gives a warning: do not transform again, lest he burn through his remaining energy and be unable to return. Later, the insidious Ghose release an enormous monster on Earth, the Ghose’ greatest weapon: Pandon.

    Episode 49: THE BIGGEST INVASION IN HISTORY (Part 2) (史上最大の侵略 後編, Shijō Saidai no Shinryaku  Kōhen)

    After collapsing, Dan’s seizing body is brought to the med bay. The Ghose retrieve Pandon and begin repairing with robotic parts to replace its lost limbs. Using Amagi as a hostage and to speak to humanity, the Ghose outline their demands: all humans are to surrender unconditionally and be moved to the Ghose colony of Mars. If there is any resistance, the Ghose will detonate their drill bombs to destroy all of Earth’s major cities.
