Mill Creek Entertainment is offering SciFi Japan readers a chance to win their new DVD sets of Tsuburaya Productions’ THE ULTRAMAN and ULTRAMAN 80. The sets feature audio of the original Japanese soundtracks with English subtitles. Episode guide booklets are also included.
THE ULTRAMAN (ザ☆ウルトラマン, Za Urutoraman, 1979-80) is the eighth Ultraman television series and the first Ultraman anime show. The animation was done by Sunrise, the studio that has received international acclaim for their hugely popular MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM franchise. The show's hero, Ultraman Joneus, is a legendary warrior who hails from U40, a Star of Ultra outside of the Land of Light. Joneus made his first live action appearance in the 1979 feature film ULTRAMAN: GREAT MONSTER BATTLE (ウルトラマン怪獣大決戦, Urutoraman Kajū Daikessen) and was most recently seen in the streaming series ULTRA GALAXY FIGHT: THE ABSOLUTE CONSPIRACY (ウルトラギャラクシーファイト 大いなる陰謀, Urutora Gyarakushī Faito Ōinaru Inbō, 2020). This DVD collection includes all 50 episodes.
The ninth series, ULTRAMAN 80 (ウルトラマン80（エイティ） Urutoraman Eitii, 1980-81) , was the first live action Ultraman show since the end of ULTRAMAN LEO (ウルトラマンレオ Urutoraman Reo) five years before. This 50-episode series follows Takeshi Yamato, a twenty-two- year-old young man who lives a double life. During the daytime, he is a rookie but popular science teacher at a junior high school in Tokyo. But after school and on Sundays he works as a member of the elite UGM (Utility Government Members), an Earth defense organization which tackles difficult situations such as alien invasion and attacks from monsters. When the situation gets out of control, Takeshi transforms into a 50-meter-tall mighty warrior, Ultraman 80 to save the day. 80 is often aided by Yullian, a female Ultra Warriror.
Both sets will be available from retailers on September 14th for $34.99 each.
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES and INFORMATION
Prize:
A. There are four (4) prizes, with each prize consisting of one (1) THE ULTRAMAN and one (1) ULTRAMAN 80 DVD set.
B. Prizes will be shipped to the contest winners so entrants must include a valid mailing address. This contest is only open to participants in the United States and Canada.
C. In the event that a winner chooses not to (or cannot) accept a prize, he or she forfeits all claim to that prize.
D. One entry per person. Prizes are non-transferable. No substitution of prizes allowed.
Duration of contests:
A. The “THE ULTRAMAN and ULTRAMAN 80” contest runs from September 7 until 11:59pm on September 22, 2021.
How to enter:
A. Submit your name, email address, and mailing address for the random drawing.
B. Be sure to write “THE ULTRAMAN and ULTRAMAN 80” in the subject header of your email entry. SciFi Japan often runs multiple contests at the same time, so any entries without “THE ULTRAMAN and ULTRAMAN 80” in the subject header will be discarded.
Determination of winners:
A. Only contestants who have submitted the requested information will be entered in the final drawing. The first four randomly drawn eligible entries will be judged the winners for this contest.
B. SciFi Japan is not responsible for typographical, electronic or other errors in Internet operation affecting the offering, outcome, administration of the contest or the announcement of prizes. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
C. The decision of Mill Creek Entertainment and SciFi Japan is final. Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of the SciFi Japan judges, which are final and binding in all respects.
D. Following the drawing, winners will be notified via email.
