    DRAGON WARS Japanese DVD and Blu-Ray in June

    Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Japan announced that it will release a two-disc DVD and single-disc Blu-ray of DRAGON WARS (D-War, 2007) on June 3. Formerly, the film was released theatrically in Japan on November 29, 2008. The Japanese title is D-WARS (????????), which was somewhat reminiscent of the US title DRAGON WARS. Both the Region 2 DVD and Blu-ray Disc feature more than 2 hours of bonus features (listed below). The DVD will include 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen feature, along with Dolby Digital 5.1 original English/Korean sound. As with many Japanese titles, the Japanese dub (also DD 5.1) will be added. Blu-ray will feature the 2.35:1 widescreen film and Dolby TrueHD (original English/Korean and Japanese dub) sound. The following is the complete list of bonus features: DVD - Three making-of documentaries - Three featurettes regarding making of the sets - Pre-visualization - CG visual effects - Original soundtrack - Creature sound effects - After recording - ADR - Three theatrical trailers

    Blu-ray - Three making-of documentaries - Three featurettes regarding making of the sets - Pre-visualization - CG visual effects - Original soundtrack - Creature sound effects - After recording - ADR - Three theatrical trailers plus - Collection of theatrical trailers (possibly of other films) As an added bonus, the first pressings of DVD will include a lenticular sheet. The DVD is priced 4,179 yen (approximately $42.38 US) and the Blu-ray is 4,980 yen ($50.51 US). Keen SciFi Japan readers may recall that the Japanese DVD might be packaged with special Imoogi and Dragon figures manufactured by a Korean company, as reported in a previous article about Zena Pictures / Zero Nine Character Co., Ltd. According to Mr. Yang Hee-seung, managing director of Zena Pictures / Zero Nine Character Co., Ltd., a Japanese company called Brainworks, which handles the selling and marketing of DVDs, is considering of inclusion of the figures.
