Fumiake first came to fame as a teenage professional wrestler in the early 1970s, defeating Jumbo Miyamoto to win the WWWA (World Women’s Wrestling Association) Championship in March, 1975. The following month she made her big screen debut, playing herself in the Toei action adventure GREAT CHASE (華麗なる追跡, Kareinaru Tsuiseki, 1975). Fumiake would go on to make frequent television appearances, star in a handful of films, launch a singing career and host a radio show. She is best known to kaiju movie fans for her role as Kilara, the leader of a trio of alien superwomen in Daiei’s GAMERA:

Shimizu was hired to direct the US version, released in 2004 as THE GRUDGE. Starring Sarah Michelle Gellar (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER), THE GRUDGE was a box office hit, grossing $188 million worldwide.     Author: Daisuke Ishizuka Toei Kyoto Studio Park in Uzumasa, Kyoto is a popular sightseeing spot and is still being used as an actual studio for filming. Uzumasa is known as a movie city; early movie studios were built there in 1927. They became Daiei Kyoto Studios in 1942. Some Daiei Studios were sold to Toei and some of those still exist as Toei Kyoto Studio Park. Daiei Film Co., Ltd. went out of business in 1971 and their studios in Kyoto completely closed in 1986. However, the Daiei name is still alive in Uzumasa. There is a street named Daiei Street, and a 5m tall Daimajin monument was set on the Daiei Shopping Arcade in 2013. Daiei created three Daimajin movies in 1966 and all of them were filmed in Daiei Kyoto studios. The Daimajin which is displayed on the street is not an

    Source: Avery Guerra A rough cut of the highly anticipated kaiju film HOWL FROM BEYOND THE FOG (????, Sagiri no Kuni) will be shown at this year`s G-Fest, running Friday, July 12 through Sunday, July 14 at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont, IL. The test screenings are scheduled for Saturday at 5:15pm and Sunday at 1:30pm. Directed by Daisuke Sato, HOWL FROM BEYOND THE FOG is a classic style tokusatsu movie using traditional Japanese FX techniques including puppets, miniatures and suitmation, in collaboration with legendary Toho monster maker Keiz? Murase. The film is set in a small village in Kyushu, Japan during the Meiji reformation era. The comic artist -- known for his work on GODZILLA, TRANSFORMERS, MARS ATTACKS, ULTRAMAN and other titles -- created the look for the main kaiju baddie of the film. “I’m pretty darned excited about this," Frank told SciFi Japan. "Asylum, if nothing else, cranks out these monster flicks like crazy. And the concept they asked me to design was pretty unique as far as the kaiju genre goes.
